Space Carvings

 

I wanted to make something big and tall and I was in a carving mood.  I was imagining this as a maquette for a very large sculpture sitting in a field, where people could walk around it and see the shapes change.  I wanted to be playful, not imposing even if tall.  Each plane is different and has something to say to the other planes.  I like to imagine the sky coming through the negative spaces, making beautiful blues and harsh blacks in high contrast, dramatic conversation.
